Urgent Care: What Is Hypertension, Is It Dangerous, Who is At Risk?

When is the last time you had your blood pressure checked? High blood pressure, also known as hypertension, is a condition where the blood has been forced against the artery walls for so long that it eventually causes health issues like heart disease. It's a common condition, and it affects almost everyone at some point. What Causes High Blood Pressure? There are two types of hypertension: primary hypertension and secondary hypertension. Primary hypertension has no known cause. Medical experts believe that it develops in adults slowly over time. Secondary hypertension develops because of an underlying cause, such as medications, kidney problems, sleep apnea, and chronic alcohol use.
