San Carlos Urgent Care Gives Tips for Insect and Bug Bites this Summer

Getting your tent ready and preparing for a grand outdoor experience this summer doesn’t mean that you’re all set to go. Camping in venues like the Francis Beach Campground should definitely be one of the top activities on your list; however, another priority should be emergency knowledge on how to handle bug and insect bites.

The great outdoors is, after all, home not only to beautiful scenery and amazing wildlife, but also bugs and insects that can dampen the fun, as well as put your health at risk. San Carlos urgent care provides these tips and reminders to protect against bites.

Spider Bites

Many people suffer from an intense fear of spiders and often they have very good reason for this fear. There are certain species of spiders that must absolutely be avoided because they carry venom that can prove fatal. The brown recluse spider, for example, can cause intense redness and pain.

Caring for Blisters from Rowing with Help from San Carlos Urgent Care

June 4th was National Learn to Row Day, and Bair Island Aquatic Center (BIAC) is getting in on the action. This summer from 9am-1pm, the BIAC Boathouse is holding a free Learn-to-Row Day for anybody who would like to learn the art of rowing.

Not only is it a wonderful way to bond and enjoy the beauty of the local San Carlos lakes and rivers, but it is also an excellent way to get fit as rowing develops everything from arm and leg strength to your cardiovascular system.

Given the nature of this activity, however, it can involve a high incidence of overuse injuries. One of the most common are intense blisters on the hands that affect both beginners and pros. In fact, blisters due to rowing are often inevitable.

However, don’t let that prevent you from learning how to row! San Carlos urgent care center shares some useful advice on understanding and preventing rowing blisters.
